What Will Be The Top Bathroom Styles Of 2022?
The last year has seen a marked move away from the minimal white bathrooms that have been fashionable for so long, towards a bolder approach. More imaginative use of colour and tiling looks set to continue into the next year, with some exciting new trends as well. Here’s a roundup of the styles to watch out for.
1. Fluted shower screens
The clear glass that has been the on-trend look for years is set to make way for fluted glass, according to Your Home Style. The throwback 1920s art deco style lends a touch of class and sophistication when used for shower screens, as well as providing privacy and being easy to keep clean.
Fluted glass complements the other elements of 1920s design that are popular for bathrooms, such as geometric tiling and brass fixtures and fittings. The fluted look can also be used for light fittings and wall panelling.
2. Victorian bathrooms
If the 1920s aren’t your era, then a classic Victorian bathroom may appeal. The ever-popular roll top bath will be a key feature of this look if you have room for one. For a modern twist, you could choose a coloured bath to add interest. Add traditional matching brushed brass or gold fixtures to finish off the look.
3. Bathroom tech
Bathroom technology will be taken to the next level in 2022, with waterproof, ultra slimline TVs becoming a must-have. They are designed to be resistant to misting up, so you can enjoy a hot soak in the bath and catch up on your favourite shows at the same time. Some even double as a mirror when not in use!
Smart toilets which have a range of features such as water, air, and heated seats are set to become more common and affordable. Other ultra-hygienic features, such as no-touch taps and soap dispensers, are also going to be more popular than ever as we emerge from the pandemic.
4. Deep rich colours
The muted neutral tones that have been dominant for so long are set to be overtaken by darker hues in 2022. Deep glossy greens and blues are current favourites, and for the bold, black bathroom suites will be the must-have look. They look great combined with metallic fittings and splashes of bright colour.
Pantone colour of the year 2022 is Very Peri , a vibrant tone of lavender, which they describe as “a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through.”
If that is not quite clear, Pantone helpfully add: “Rekindling gratitude for some of the qualities that blue represents complemented by a new perspective that resonates today, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri places the future ahead in a new light.” So now you know.
5. Rounded mirrors
It is predicted that angular shapes will make way for softer curves, including for mirrors. Backlit anti-fog mirrors are especially elegant, and suit smaller bathrooms in particular. Changing the mirror is also a perfect way to update a bathroom without going to a lot of trouble and expense.
